Dallas-based interior designer Kara Adam believes that when it comes to the design of your home, anything can be done. With extensive experience spanning ground-up construction to comprehensive renovations, Kara brings a deep understanding of the building process and a collaborative approach to realizing each project’s full potential.
Her approach is holistic, considering every detail, from architectural elements and spatial relationships to furnishings, art, and the finer points of daily life. Each project begins with a careful consideration of its architecture, setting, and the way its owners intend to live, resulting in a design process as individual as the residence itself. A creative problem-solver by nature, Kara draws on nearly three decades of experience and a trusted network of architects, builders, art advisors, and artisans to create highly personal residences that reflect the distinct sensibilities of those who inhabit them.
Kara Adam Interiors’ work spans the United States, encompassing primary residences and distinctive second homes. Kara was named to the Luxe Interiors + Design 2025 Gold List and has been recognized among D Home’s top Dallas designers annually since 2012. Her work has appeared in design books including The Living Room by the Design Leadership Network and Alpine Style, and has received multiple PaperCity Design Awards. Her projects have also been featured in FLOWER, Traditional Home, Luxe Interiors + Design, Southern Home, and numerous other regional and national publications.

Kara Adam
Principal & Founder
Kara Adam is a Dallas-based interior designer whose work blends classical architecture with contemporary design. She creates richly layered residences that bring together furnishings from different periods, fine art, exceptional craftsmanship, and unexpected details. Her work balances contrast and character to create spaces that feel timeless, thoughtful, and full of personality.
Since founding her firm in 2004, Adam has developed a residential practice encompassing everything from sophisticated city residences to waterfront escapes and mountain retreats. Rather than impose a recognizable house style, she takes her cues from the architecture, the setting, and, above all, the individual preferences of her clients. Art is integral to this process, considered from the outset rather than introduced as a finishing touch. The resulting interiors are as individual as their inhabitants, balancing a collector's sensibility with an intuitive understanding of how people live, gather, and entertain.
A Dallas native and graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Interior Design, Adam began her design career in 1998 before establishing her firm in 2004. Today, her work reflects nearly three decades of experience and an enduring curiosity about the possibilities of residential design. When she's not designing homes or traveling in search of inspiration, Kara is likely cheering on one of her three children from the sidelines, spending time with her husband, Austin, or wrangling her two beloved doodles, Tess and Heidi.
Ashley Russo
Senior Project Manager
Ashley is a Florida native and University of Alabama alumna who brings a love of design, fashion, and thoughtful details to her work at Kara Adam Interiors. After graduating she spent five years in New York City working in the luxury fashion industry, where she developed a strong foundation in creative management and the art of bringing a vision to life. Ashley joined Kara Adam Interiors in January 2021 and draws on her experience working alongside esteemed designers including Thakoon Panichgul and Tanya Taylor. At Kara Adam Interiors, she plays an integral role in bringing projects from vision to realization, overseeing the many details that define a finished space. Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband, Will, and their labradoodle, Dottie. She is always up for trying a new Pilates studio, traveling, and spending time with her niece and nephew.
Caroline Abernathy
Design Associate
Caroline graduated from the University of Georgia and began her career in the interior design industry shortly after, joining Kara Adam Interiors in 2022. As a Design Associate, she works closely with the design team throughout each phase of a project, from sourcing and selections to presentations, procurement, and installation. Her love of interiors began at an early age through her family’s home and gift boutique in Wichita Falls, Texas, where she developed an eye for beautiful pieces and thoughtfully layered spaces. Outside of the office, Caroline enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, searching for vintage finds, and spending time with her husband, Logan, and dachshund, Penny.
Jessica Sanders
Bookkeeper
Jessica is a graduate from Texas A&M University. She began her career in retail at the corporate headquarters of Neiman Marcus and The Container Store. She went on to join the operations team at Dallas' Delivery Limited, where she partnered with interior designers to plan and execute installations. She employs her gift of order and organization to her role of bookkeeper at Kara Adam Interiors, providing a seamless experience for clients and vendors. In her free time, Jessica enjoys indulging in a cocktail on a nice patio, and spending time with her husband and two young kids.
